About the Artist
Debbie Curtis is a lifelong California-based Greek American artist and founder of The Healing Artisan, working from a studio in California.
After relocating to a different area, a threshold into quieter terrain, Curtis turned to painting. The tactile, dimensional nature of impasto…paint that rises from the canvas and holds feeling, became a language or restoration.
The impasto process begins with intention. The paintings are created using a palette knife and acrylic paint, applied in thick, layered strokes. The impasto technique creates surfaces with visible texture and movement.
Subjects range from representational to abstract. Some pieces are immediately recognizable. Others are intuitive, guided by color and feeling. While the style shifts, the intent remains constant…to create a moment of pause in the current of daily life.
Collectors are drawn to the work for its quiet power. These paintings are chosen because they hold space and command attention, created with the hope they bring grounding and uplift to each person who views it.
